Sheila Kealey, MPH
Sheila Kealey, MPH, serves as Communications Assistant of the Communication and Dissemination Core of the San Diego Prevention Research Center. As such, her main responsibility is to write newspaper articles to maintain the SDPRC's obesity prevention advice column in El Diario San Diego, South bay San Diego's primary Spanish language community newspaper. Sheila has worked with the Cancer Prevention and Control Program of the Moores Cancer Center at the University of California, San Diego, for 18 years. She was Communications Coordinator for the multi-site Womens Healthy Eating and Living Study and has developed educational materials related to diet, weight control, physical activity, and disease prevention for a variety of lifestyle intervention studies. Sheila writes newsletters on a variety of health topics for research study participants and has coauthored publications in the area of nutrition, lifestyle, and cancer prevention. Sheila was managing editor of several Tobacco Control in California reports and coauthored the cookbook and nutrition guide, Food For Thought: Healing Foods to Savor.
Sheila received a Masters in Public Health (Health Promotion) from the Graduate School of Public Health at San Diego State University. She is an avid runner, cyclist, and triathlete and enjoys promoting physical activity to youth through coaching a variety of sports for school and community.
