Jazmin I. Nuno
Jazmin Nuno currently serves as Research Core Site Coordinator for the San Ysidro Health Center on the Familias Sanas y Activas study. In this role, Jazmin is responsible for training and supporting a small group of volunteer promotores who teach physical activity classes. She also assists with San Ysidro Health Center's prescription pad program, which provides health center doctors with prescription pads to refer patients to Familias Sanas y Activas exercise groups. Jazmin is the SDPRC's Community Liaison Assistant on the Collaboration and Partnerships Core as well, representing the SDPRC at community and national level meetings and events.
Prior to joining San Ysidro Health Center, Jazmin was a community health worker in San Diego's low-income, Latino communities with the WISEWOMAN program. She was responsible for participant recruitment, education, counseling, and assessment aimed at lowering participants' risk for cardiovascular disease. Included in her role was work with participants in the areas of nutrition and physical activity behavior change.
Jazmin earned a B.S in Psychology from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico. Her psychology internship involved providing counseling to patients before and after treatment for chronic renal insufficiency, as well as to their families. As a Health Educator at San Ysidro Health Center, Jazmin currently provides cooking classes and nutrition education to patients who participate in the Cocinando para una Vida Saludable program.
